Darren DeGroote (1967-2009)

In April of 2009 Darren was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After a valiant battle with the illness, Darren passed away on Sunday August 30, 2009. With Darren's passing, Double "D" Fur and TNT Trapping Supply will close for business. Darren had a great passion for trapping and these businesses were an extension of that passion. We wish to express our sincere thanks to all colleagues and customers who allowed Darren to see his dream come true. We should all be so lucky.

Obituary:

Darren Thomas DeGroote, 42, of Tripoli, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30 at his home in Tripoli.
Darren was born on April 12, 1967, the son of Thomas and Julie (Cuvelier) DeGroote in Cedar Falls. He was baptized in 1967 at the Orchard Hill Reformed Church in Cedar Falls. He graduated from Aplington High School in 1985.

On Aug. 18, 2001, he was united in marriage to Diane Schweer at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. Darren was owner and operator of Double "D" Fur. He was also employed at Steere Farms until his illness, and as a meat cutter for several years.

He enjoyed trapping, spending time outdoors but especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors are his wife, Diane DeGroote of Tripoli; two daughters, Lisa "Wib" DeGroote and Matt of Steamboat Rock and Deven DeGroote of Tripoli; son, Travis DeGroote and Anne of Ackley; two grandchildren, Chloe and Trendon; his parents, Tom and Julie DeGroote of Waterloo; two sisters, Lori (David) Schilling of Cedar Falls and Shelly (Kenny) DeGroote of Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Darlene Schweer, brother-in-law, Eugene Schweer and a sister-in-law, LaDonna Schweer.
